A group of partners accompanied by officials from Rwanda Local Development Support Fund (RLDSF) on March 20, 2014 visited Nyamasheke district.
Stakeholders from Holland, Germany and European Union visited the district to validate activities of various projects under their funding in Nyamasheke.
During the visit, partners commended the effort of Nyamasheke district administration and residents in making use of the available projects to achieve social-economic development.
On the same event, Jean Baptiste Habyarimana; mayor of Nyamasheke district commended the project sponsors for the numerous ways they contribute to the development of the district.
Emphasizing how the district has tremendously developed in all sectors, Nyamasheke district mayor presented to the guests its achievements in agriculture, private sector, tourism, infrastructure sectors among others.
RLDSF officials and sponsors visited Karengera Electricity Plant in Karengera centre in Kilimbi sector where schools around, businesses among others have boosted due to electricity availability.
Also among the projects visited is 18 kilometres Hanika-Kivuza murram road that was repaired.
Residents say that Hanika-Kivuza road repair has made it possible to transport food stuffs to the market.
RLDSF was created in 2010 to take over the initiatives of the then Rwanda Common Development Fund (CDF) with a core mission to provide technical assistance to the districts and the monitoring and evaluation of local infrastructure and social protection projects.
The projects RLDSF is involved in range from feeder road construction, schools, electricity, agro-processing, SMEs, clean water, health facilities and other activities that are likely to stimulate rural development.
