Rwanda changes shape of Police insignia

The Rwanda National Police (RNP) has changed the shape and colors of the insignia of its top police brass rankings as of November 2015.

The color of the insignia were changed from yellow to gold, and insignia but the ranking remained as before though some of the insignias have been shifted from one top rank to a lower one.

For example the Deputy Commissioner General of Police now puts on the insignia that was for the rank of Commissioner General of Police (CGP), the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) puts on the insignia of the Commissioner of Police (CP), and the Commissioner of Police puts on that of the Deputy Commissioner General of Police (DCGP).

The Commissioner General of Police (CGP) is the only top officer whose insignia has changed from the one that has been around since 2000.

The changes come at a time when Rwanda is hosting the 84th international police (Interpol) general assembly which kicked off in Kigali this November, 2-5, 2015 and also believed to be part of preparation for the forces’ celebration of 15 year’s anniversary.

Rwanda Police spokesman, CSP Celestin Twahirwa said that the changes have nothing so special to mean.
