Rusizi: Anglican Church donates to vulnerable households

The Anglican church in Cyangugu Diocese through Mothers Union; a Christian charity that seeks to support families donated livestock to 20 vulnerable households in Gashonga sector in Rusizi district.

The move was meant to wish the families a merry Christmas and happy new year.

Pastor Berthe Nyiransabimana project coordinator of Mothers’ Union says giving livestock to residents is a strategy that will develop people in socio-economic statuses

Nyiransabimana added that beneficiaries of Mothers’ union were sensitized on saving culture through forming credit and saving associations for fast development.

On the side of beneficiaries, they promised to take good care of the goats and improve their social condition.

Jeanne Nyiramirindi, a beneficiary from Nyabihanga village, Kamurehe cell in Gashonga sector revealed that a goat will help him fight poverty because he will get manure to increase crop yields.

This is because when children and pregnant women are taken care of,they are prevented from malnutrition problems.

Solina Musabyemariya, executive secretary of Rusayo cell said that the cell administration will follow up so that livestock improves social condition of the beneficiaries.

PastorEphraim Ndagijimana of Gashonga Anglican Church highlighted that some of the church’s responsibilities is to help the vulnerable residents and striving to make them self-reliant.
