About 27 poor students from Kagitega Primary school in Cyanika sector Burera District on Thursday 28th.Feb.2013 were given different scholastic materials to help them in their studies by Global Fund. The materials given to these students included 10 exercise books, 15 pens and pencils, mathematical sets, school bags and shoes for school uniform.


“They selected the very poor students with more problems than others” said Simeon Niyonzima the education officer in Cyanika sector. In Cyanika sector there are 33 beneficiaries of Global Fund from 3 schools including the 27 that were given scholastic materials.

Niyonzima said that Global Fund had planned to support every child with materials worth Rwf14600. This money was channeled through Cyanika sector which gave tender to secure children needs.

Every school decided on what they needed for their children and apart from pupils in this school who got scholastic materials and school shoes; others will be getting school uniforms only.

Global Fund has always supported children in Primary and Secondary Schools in Burera district. Children in primary schools usually get scholastic materials and secondary school students get scholastic materials and school fees.
